Here are answers to some of the questions we expect people to have about the WJN-United Wisconsin merger:

Why is this merger happening?

Many reasons! Primarily, having worked together multiple times, we recognize that we are stronger as one united force than as separate entities. Merging means a stronger progressive presence from Kenosha to Superior. We’ll be one of the largest grassroots organizations in the state, better equipped to fight for our values both digitally and on the ground.

Who is United Wisconsin?

United Wisconsin formed in 2011 to lead the historic effort to recall Scott Walker and has since been a vehicle for Wisconsin residents to demand a transparent and accountable government, access to the democratic process, and family-friendly policies. United Wisconsin successfully led a campaign passing local referendums calling for a Constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.

What does this mean for my [sustaining] membership?

First and foremost, thank you for your support and commitment to a better Wisconsin. The good work you’ve supported will continue and will now be able to be expanded beyond what was previously capable. Some of the mechanisms for processing your transactions may change. If they do, we will let you know well in advance and work with you to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Who’s in charge now?

In the interim, WJN staff will be supervising all WJN and UW operations, with the guidance of the United Wisconsin staff and board. We are in the process of integrating our boards and will keep you updated on the resulting formations.

Will your name and/or logo change?

In the short term, not much will change from an outside perspective. We’ll be integrating our work over the coming months, seeking input and guidance from our members and supporters at every step of the way, but our names and our day-to-day operations won’t be changing immediately.

How will I stayed updated on the merger process?

We are 100% committed to keeping our members and supporters updated through the integration process. Our volunteer board members have been working hard to ensure that the values and commitments of each organization are blended as seamlessly as possible in order to set us up for future success. We will be updating the next steps on our social media pages, on our websites, and by email.

Will I have a say in the merger process moving forward?

It is of utmost importance to us be proactive about seeking input and listening to observations from our members and supporters. Throughout the next few months, we will be soliciting your feedback through online surveys, social media, and group meetings. We also invite you to provide us your suggestions and observations via the WJN-United Wisconsin merger feedback form found here.

I have a different question/concern/idea. Who should I ask?

We have set up an easily accessible feedback form to provide a space for you to ask questions, raise concerns, and make suggestions. That form is available here. We take your opinions very seriously and will make a diligent, honest effort to address any of your questions or concerns in a timely manner.
