WI Joint Finance Committee Republicans have released their final budget motion. If adopted in the budget, it would repeal the state’s “living wage” provision: a law over 100 years old that says that the state minimum wage has to be a living wage, and allows we the people to demand that our government do something about it if it’s not.
TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS TO AMEND THE BUDGET AND KEEP OUR LIVING WAGE LAW!
Last year, over 100 workers filed complaints with the state maintaining that the minimum wage of $7.25 is not a living wage. Although they ignored us, the scramble to gut this law is proof that these legislators heard the cries of the underpaid and admit that our minimum wage is not a living wage.
Despite their claim that $7.25 is livable, they clearly they don’t believe their own argument since they are trying trying to repeal the law before they even know the outcome of the case. Don’t let it happen!
