Why We Must Tie Minimum Wage to Inflation

This handy graph makes it pretty clear. If you’re making minimum wage in America then you’re making less in 2012 dollars than someone was making $1.60 in 1968. The evidence is pretty disturbing, but as a whole, low-wage workers have seen their share of wages get decimated by inflation. That means that your dollars don’t go as far and you’re able to purchase fewer goods. Whenever Congress get’s around to addressing the issue – it would be wise of them to tie the minimum wage to inflation – that way every year when prices for food and fuel rise your wages would as well. Sign the petition calling on Congress and the candidates to raise the minimum wage today! #minimumWage
